Doug Mehne

Doug Mehne is an executive leader specializing in institutional digital asset infrastructure, treasury management, trading, custody, and on-chain financial platforms. He focuses on building scalable institutional businesses that bridge regulated financial markets and emerging blockchain infrastructure.
 

He currently serves as Senior Advisor and Executive Lead at Ava Labs, where he leads the strategy, development, technology, and commercialization of an institutional treasury management, custody, and staking platform designed for traditional and digital asset-native financial institutions. His work centers on aligning institutional requirements with enterprise-grade on-chain infrastructure to enable adoption at scale.
 

Doug also serves as Chair of the Boston Blockchain Association, where he works with financial institutions, infrastructure providers, regulators, policymakers, and university stakeholders to advance institutional engagement and understanding of digital assets through executive forums, public policy, and industry dialogue.

Previously, Doug held senior leadership roles across global financial institutions and fintech organizations, including managing a $300M global business at Reuters, rebuilding and scaling State Street’s Global Link electronic trading business, and leading strategy, product, and innovation initiatives at BNY Mellon. He also co-developed and scaled Protego Trust, an institutional digital asset trust bank, from initial business plan through state and federal chartering processes.

His experience spans platform leadership, operational execution, institutional go-to-market strategy, and scaling global organizations across fintech, digital assets, and global capital markets.
