Doug Mehne

Over the course of the last 30 years, Doug has been at the forefront of technology and innovation in financial services, leading the development and growth of new and existing businesses.

Doug is currently COO and Trust Officer of Protego Trust Bank N.A. (in organization). He is responsible for the Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Customer Success, Sales, and Trust departments. Protego Trust Bank N.A., is an OCC approved financial institution with the power to securely and efficiently serve the digital asset needs of institutional investors.

 

Prior to Protego, Doug was the Head of Data as a Service for BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, and was responsible for the development and execution of this new business for Asset Serving. In addition to his Data responsibilities, Doug and his team led the Strategy and Product Management for the North American Asset Servicing Segments and lines of businesses. Doug’s team also shared the leadership of the Client Advisory Boards, digital solution and technology strategies, and client segment roadmap development. Prior to BNY Mellon, Doug worked at State Street Corporation as Senior Managing Director, Global Markets. While at State Street, Doug scaled the Global Link business, which comprised of the electronic trading suite of products by 800% in four years. Previous to State Street, he was Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Finaplex, an early stage provider of enterprise software solutions for the private wealth management industry. From 1990 to 2002, he held a variety of senior management positions, most recently as Executive Vice President, Global Accounts, at Reuters, a global information company providing information, news and technology solutions tailored for professionals in the financial services, media and corporate markets. He received his B.S. in Business Administration from Husson University, with additional training at the University of Chicago, University of Michigan, and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.

 

Doug is passionate about his philanthropic work, and is a Trustee of the Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island, where he is on the Executive, Finance, and Conservation (Chair) Committees, he was also Treasurer, Head of Governance, and on the Board of Directors of the Donaldson Adoption Institute in New York City for 15 years; and on the Board of the Tower Group. Doug lives in Winchester MA, with his wife and three daughters.
